Cons: BUT he knows it. He's a total dick about it, too. When grading your essays and final paper, he is extremely critical, and not in the constructive way. It's almost as if he enjoys making sure students know they are not on his level. I WOULD NOT take his class again if given the opportunity to do this semester over. He's actually the most hateful teacher I've had here at Tech.
Readings are generally pretty interesting and the course has a nice progression over time.
Good at working with a multitude of ideas and making them relate to the class.
Cons: Some of the readings are super long.
Ignore the poor ratings as those students obviously chose not to participate in class. I talked frequently and it from talking to others the ones who did participate got better essay grades because he knows you are actually engaged in the class. Best history class I have taken in my two years at tech so far.
Cons: T. A does all of the grading
I found Professor Heaton to be a really great professor. I was always very interested in his lectures; it is evident he is very knowledgable of African history. Side note, I found him absolutely adorable pacing around with his orange mug.
Cons: He is boring as hell
Not a good teacher
And if you do not get to know him or even say a word to him then he will not like you
He is very favorable to certain students
not fair
he is a total smartass when grading people entrance tickets
Do not waste your time-if you need it and this is the only class that you are available for with its set time, do not even bother. go take another class that will actually boost your gpa.
Teacher obviously has a very good understanding of his materials, however not one of those classes one could get into easily.
Cons: His lectures are pretty boring and he talks in a monitone voice. His tests are also pretty hard and he does'nt curve.
Cons: He examines mostly non-western views of history, which wasn't what I was expecting.
Cons: Nothing.
